Self-Archiving Policy

The National Journal of Physiology, Pharmacy and Pharmacology (NJPPP) is committed to promoting open access and the broad dissemination of scientific knowledge. Our Self-Archiving Policy empowers authors to share their work at various stages of the publication process — from pre-submission to the final published version — thereby maximizing the visibility, accessibility, and impact of their research.

NJPPP supports author self-archiving in line with international open access best practices, ensuring that research outputs remain accessible to the global scientific community while maintaining the integrity of the publication process.

1. Pre-submitted Manuscripts (Preprints)

• Authors are encouraged to share their pre-submission versions (preprints) on recognized preprint servers or institutional repositories before submitting to NJPPP.

• Early sharing promotes scholarly discussion and engagement within the research community.

• Authors must disclose any preprint posting (including repository name and DOI or URL) in the cover letter during submission to NJPPP.

• Posting a preprint does not constitute prior publication and does not affect the manuscript’s eligibility for consideration in NJPPP.

2. Submitted Manuscripts

• Authors may archive their submitted version (the version under consideration) before peer review has begun.

• To maintain transparency, authors must notify the editorial office via email with repository details and DOI or URL where the manuscript is deposited.

• The archived version must clearly state:
  “This manuscript has been submitted to the National Journal of Physiology, Pharmacy and Pharmacology (NJPPP) for consideration.”

3. Under Review Stage

• During the peer review process, authors may continue to share the submitted version on personal or institutional repositories.

• Authors should inform the editorial office about the repository name and DOI/URL to ensure appropriate documentation and transparency.

• No changes reflecting peer-review outcomes should be made at this stage to the archived version.

4. Accepted Manuscripts (Postprints)

• Once a manuscript has been formally accepted for publication, authors are permitted to archive the accepted version (postprint) — that is, the version incorporating all peer-review changes but prior to journal formatting or copy-editing.

• The archived version must include the following statement:
  “This is the accepted manuscript version of an article published in the National Journal of Physiology, Pharmacy and Pharmacology (NJPPP). The final published version is available at [insert DOI].”

• Authors should inform the editorial office of the repository and DOI/URL where the accepted version is archived.

5. Published Articles (Version of Record)

• After formal publication, authors are encouraged to archive the final published version (Version of Record) in institutional or subject repositories, provided proper attribution is given.

• Authors should ensure that the official DOI assigned by NJPPP replaces any previous identifiers associated with preprints or accepted versions.

• The archived copy should include the full citation and DOI linking to the official NJPPP website.

• Authors are encouraged to share the published article widely through institutional repositories, research networking platforms, personal websites, blogs, or social media, thereby increasing its reach and impact.

6. General Guidelines

• Authors must ensure that all archived versions clearly indicate their status (preprint, submitted, accepted, or published version).

• Archived versions should not be altered in ways that misrepresent the peer-reviewed record or official version of the publication.

• NJPPP does not impose any embargo period on self-archiving.

• Authors are encouraged to use repositories that assign persistent identifiers (e.g., DOI, Handle, or ARK) to ensure long-term accessibility.

7. Licensing and Copyright

• All self-archived versions must respect the copyright terms agreed upon in the NJPPP Copyright and Licensing Policy.

• Authors should include the proper attribution statement and journal DOI in all archived copies to ensure proper citation and linkage to the final published article.

By supporting self-archiving, NJPPP affirms its dedication to open science, research transparency, and the free exchange of knowledge.
